Tap goes mainstream

Just saw this American Express (For Business!) commercial, featuring Spinal Tap's -- er, The Thamesmen's -- "Gimme Some Money". And it's not tongue-in-cheek; they just made a commercial for a cash-back credit card and figured that it would make an appropriate soundtrack.

The amazing journey of Spinal Tap - from cult to counter-culture to American Express commericals. Pretty remarkable feat for a fake (albeit talented) band.

I think I've seen Nigel in a VW ad as well, but that might have been during one of my own personal "commercial breaks."

By the way (and if I had a blog I wouldn't need to non-sequitur this into a comment here), I was thinking that if it is indeed the fact that kids are not watching Loony Toons anymore (see what I meant about the non-sequitur?), does that mean that the dynamite-plunger is something that kids won't recognize any longer? Who will warn them of the dangers of falling anvils? (Will they even know what an anvil is?) What about hand-cars?
